Speech Therapy for All Ages in Roslyn, NY
At Tanya Hefets | Certified Speech Language Pathologist, we provide individualized speech and language therapy for children at every stage of development. From early intervention through adolescence, our approach is designed to support the whole child—building communication skills, academic readiness, and self-confidence along the way.
With more than 25 years of experience serving families in Roslyn, NY, and throughout Long Island, we have developed a holistic, research-backed model that adapts to each child’s needs. Rather than following a rigid program, we create a customized plan that grows with the child over time.
Our goal is not only to improve speech and language skills but also to help children become more confident, independent learners.
Our Child-Centered Therapy Approach
Every child brings a unique set of strengths, challenges, and learning styles. That is why we begin with a comprehensive evaluation and build a personalized therapy plan based on the individual child, not a standard curriculum.
Our approach focuses on:
- Building strong communication skills
- Supporting social and emotional development
- Strengthening literacy and academic readiness
- Encouraging independence and problem-solving
- Teaching children how to stay engaged while learning
We view communication as part of a larger developmental picture. By addressing language, cognition, and emotional growth together, we help children make meaningful progress that carries into school, friendships, and everyday life.

Early Intervention: Building the Foundation (Birth to Age 7)
The early years are the most important for language development. During this stage, children are learning how to communicate, interact socially, and develop the foundational skills needed for reading and academic success.
Our early intervention therapy focuses on:
- Developing vocabulary and expressive language
- Strengthening listening and comprehension skills
- Encouraging play-based communication
- Supporting early literacy development
- Building attention and engagement
- Guiding families through developmental milestones
We also work closely with parents to provide practical strategies they can use at home. This collaborative approach helps reinforce skills between sessions and accelerates progress.
School-Age Children: Strengthening Language and Confidence
As children grow, communication demands increase. School-age students must use language to understand lessons, complete assignments, interact with peers, and express their ideas clearly.
- Our therapy for school-age children focuses on:
- Expanding vocabulary and sentence structure
- Improving reading comprehension
- Strengthening writing skills
- Enhancing storytelling and narrative abilities
- Supporting classroom participation
- Building organizational strategies
- Increasing confidence in academic settings
We create a supportive, engaging environment where children feel comfortable learning and taking academic risks. Many families notice that improved confidence is one of the most meaningful outcomes of therapy.
Older Students: Advanced Communication and Academic Skills
For older children and teenagers, communication needs often shift toward academic performance, organization, and social development. At this stage, therapy may focus on higher-level language and executive functioning skills.
Our work with older students may include:
- Organization and time management
- Memory and study strategies
- Reading comprehension
- Writing and essay development
- Leadership and social communication
- Preparation for high school or college applications
Because our practice is built on long-term relationships, many students continue therapy for years as their needs evolve.
A Holistic Model That Supports the Whole Child
We believe communication is closely connected to emotional, cognitive, and social development. That is why our therapy model looks beyond isolated speech goals.
Our holistic approach supports:
- Physical and sensory development
- Social-emotional growth
- Cognitive and language skills
- Academic readiness
- Confidence and independence
By addressing the whole child, we create progress that extends beyond therapy sessions and into everyday life.
How Our Personalized Process Works
Our concierge-style approach ensures families receive individualized attention from the very beginning.
Step 1: Complimentary 30-Minute Introduction Call
We start with a brief phone conversation to learn about your child’s needs, answer questions, and determine whether our services are the right fit.
Step 2: In-Home or School-Based Evaluation
Next, we conduct a comprehensive evaluation in a familiar environment. This allows us to observe communication skills, learning behaviors, and developmental strengths.
Step 3: Customized Therapy Plan
Based on the evaluation, we create a personalized plan. Sessions typically occur one to three times per week and last 45 to 60 minutes.
Because we operate as a boutique private practice, we maintain direct communication with families and adjust strategies as children grow.
